Yanks Honor Ex-Captain Derek Jeter on Hall of Fame Induction

Five years after Derek Jeter's number 2 was retired, Derek Jeter returned to Yankee Stadium and was inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Jeter, with his Hall plaque displayed on a stand in front the pitcher's mound was the one who spoke at Friday's 27-minute ceremony.

"I was born and raised in New Jersey. I was born in Kalamazoo.

 He said at the end of his four-minute speech, "I live now down in Miami."

Jeter was the Yankees' manager and won five World Series championships.

He was also a 14-time All-Star during a 20-season playing career that ended in 2014.

After being selected on 396 out of 397 ballots, he was inducted into Cooperstown's Hall of Fame.

Jeter's No. Yankees retired No. 2 during a May 2017 ceremony, when a plaque in Monument Park was unveiled to honor him.
