Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will advance to the November general election to win Alaska's only place in the U.S. House, NBC News estimates.
Republican Nick Begich and Democrat Mary Sattler Peltola will also be on the ballot in the fall,
NBC projects. It's too early for us to make a decision on the fourth candidate.
A victory would signal the beginning of a comeback in politics for Palin who became famous when she was selected
as the vice-presidential running co-chair in John McCain's unsuccessful 2008 White House bid against Barack Obama.
A cult figure of the now-defunct Right-wing Tea Party movement, Palin abruptly quit in her capacity as governor in 2009.
Palin was also running against the Republican in addition to Democratic candidates for the remainder of her
term for the position in Congress that was left vacant due to the passing of GOP Rep. Don Young in March.
The election was held with the help of the new ranked-choice voting method. NBC estimates that there will be no winner with
an overwhelming majority of ballots in the initial round. The results in this race aren't anticipated to be fully tallied until the end of this month.
