The 16th of August, on Tuesday, marks the anniversary celebration of 45 years since the passing of Elvis Presley.

After 45 years of his passing Elvis Presley continues to enjoy his title as the King of Pop and one of the most famous icons of American pop culture.

The King of Rock was born to Vernon and Gladys Presley in Tupelo, US on January 8 in 1935.

He was an individual child, as the twin brothers of his were not born.

In 1948, his parents moved from the city of Memphis where he attended Humes High School in 1953.

Elvis his primary musical influences were country and pop music of the day, and gospel music that he heard when he was a teenager in the church,

and the black R&B that he heard on the legendary Beale Street. The first guitar he bought was in Tupelo at the age of 11.

The singer began singing in 1954, when he signed with his Sun Records label in Memphis recording the initial five songs.

After 1955, the contract for recording was transferred to RCA Victor and by 1956 the singer was an international star.

Through his entire life as the"King" of Rock and Roll sold over billion records around the world. He released more than 150 albums

 and singles that were certified platinum, gold and multi-platinum. He also won 14 Grammy nominations, and won three times.
