Dwayne Johnson's DC passion project " Black Adam" will finally debut in theaters in October however,
the character could have made an appearance in 2019's " Shazam!" If Warner Bros. went ahead with the original plan.
"Shazam! "Shazam!" movie went into development in 2014 , with a an original script that featured origin stories for the main character as well as Black Adam.
Both characters share a background in comics, and it was appropriate to bring their big screen versions in one movie. Johnson disagreed.
"When the first draft of the movie came to us, it was a combination of Black Adam and Shazam: Two origin stories in one movie,"
Johnson recently explained to Vanity Fair. "Now this was the intention and it didn't come as the most pleasant surprise.
However, when I read this I was able to tell inside my head "We cannot make this movie as this.
It would do Black Adam an incredible disservice. It would've been okay for Shazam having two stories of origin merge into one film but not to Black Adam."
Johnson said, "I made a phone call. I said, 'I'm going to talk about it here. It's not very well-known ...'
because everyone was thinking, 'Hey, this script is fantastic and we should create this film.
I responded I really believe that you should create "Shazam!' and make it a movie of its own, with the style you'd like. It's my opinion that we need to segregate this too.
